2015 –  

Brooklyn Scholar Athletes is formed as a 501c3 organization in Brooklyn which focus on education, sports and social/emotional development of our young men and women through the field of sports.  Focused specifically toward raising the skill level of kids and preparing them for the game of life.


Brooklyn STARS is our young women's basketball program which focuses on team building, social responsibility, academic excellence and volunteerism. The team is led by Coach Phree who is also the Assistant Coach of Brooklyn Kings JV and Head Coach of Paul Robeson High School girls team.


2008 – 

The Brooklyn Kings AAU Travel Program is created with the leadership of Mike Bunton, Travel Director ,Coaches  Rick Small, Jamal Anderson, Coach Pee, Steve Cherry and strong parental and community support.

 



 





Brooklyn Kings/STARS  AAU has dedicated coaches who have worked with young athletes over a 3 to 7 years period and primarily focus on academics, teamwork, integrity, sportsmanship and handwork. Many of our coaches have experience on the high school, college and AAU circuit.  We participate in a highly competitive schedule that includes but not limited to Conrad McCrae, NIKE I.S. 8, Tri-State, Stickman Yoakim Noah, Rucker Girls Division, FunSport and many others.

Join the Brooklyn Scholar Athletes family and deliver  comprehensive sports training, and plenty of fun, to young student athletes. 

 

We’re currently looking for experienced volunteer coaches with a passion for teaching. We take pride in our coaching prowess, and hire only the best. Here are a few qualities we’re looking for:

 

  • 5+ years experience

  • Played yourself at the high school or college level

  • Great sportsmanship

  • Ability to motivate

  • Flexible hours

  • Ability to travel 25+ miles to and from event destinations

Our History

Brooklyn Scholar Athletes is a newly formed 501c3 which is home to our flagship Brooklyn Kings AAU basketball program which has been operating for the past 7 years under a prior organization.  The organization has a primary mission to provided a safe, competitive and socially/emotionally stimulating environment for young people ages 6 to 18.  


BSA has worked closely with Boys Club of New York and supported our student athletes transition into various day and boarding school across the northeast.  Many of our student/athletes attend some of the top academic  high schools in New York City. Our student athletes also are required to engage in community service activities.
